AhlulBayt News Agency: On Monday, Israeli settlers stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, one of Islam’s most sacred sites, under the heavy guard of Israeli forces. This raid unfolded amid a sharp escalation of military activity across the West Bank.
Settlers violated al-Aqsa’s courtyards twice during the day, engaging in provocative actions such as performing Talmudic rituals and disruptive dances.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces imposed severe restrictions on Muslim worshippers, barring many from entering the mosque compound and breaching longstanding agreements that protect the rights of Muslims to pray freely at the site.
The Hamas resistance movement condemned these actions as part of broader efforts to Judaize the al-Aqsa Mosque, warning against the consequences of such provocations.
At the same time, Israeli forces intensified their operations in the Tulkarem area and surrounding refugee camps. Numerous homes near the Tulkarem camp were raided, and a 70-year-old Palestinian man, Raed Yunis, was reportedly assaulted while attempting to inspect his home, which had been set ablaze by the occupying forces.
Elsewhere in the city, heavy deployments of Israeli troops were witnessed near Shuweikeh roundabout, where they used live ammunition and sound grenades, detaining several Palestinians during the operation.
Reports from Tulkarem indicated that the Israeli military raised its flag over a house in Nur Shams camp while maintaining a harsh siege on the area.
Following a ceasefire in Gaza announced in January, Israeli forces significantly ramped up their aggression in Tulkarem and other parts of the West Bank. However, this ceasefire was violated last month when the regime launched extensive military raids.
Since January, 13 Palestinians, including two women and a child, have been killed by Israeli forces in Tulkarem. In addition, 396 homes have been completely demolished, and over 2,500 partially damaged in Nur Shams and Tulkarem camps.
More broadly, across the West Bank and East al-Quds, over 956 Palestinians have been killed, nearly 7,000 wounded, and more than 16,400 detained since October 2023. These figures coincide with Israel’s intensified war on Gaza.
Israel began its full-scale assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, enforcing a total siege on the territory. The war was triggered after Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood in retaliation for Israel's growing atrocities against Palestinians.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, 52,314 Palestinians have been killed and 117,792 injured in Gaza since the onset of the aggression.
